HERE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Here to inspire and inform

Mavin Magazine aims to inspire, inform and activate its audience in thinking about and contributing to a better world, with high-quality journalism and visual content.

A platform where we focus on the most positive, diverse, and impactful stories about pressing issues preoccupying the world. Entrepreneurs, artists, scientists, researchers, philosophers and inventors working toward a more equitable and environmentally-friendly future by utilizing innovation, unexpected materials, creativity, humour, spectacle, and vast reserves of skill and conviction are our source of inspiration.

We produce content based on our beliefs

Mavin Magazine adheres to journalistic principles and ethics, content is always based on facts and thorough reporting.

We strive for objectivity as much as possible, however we do not believe there is something as complete neutrality within journalism. Everything is biased and based on personal viewpoints, to pretend otherwise is futile. Rather we are transparent about who we are and what we stand for. Our standpoints are promoting equality, social justice, and sustainability. Our content is produced on the basis of these beliefs. Viewpoints shared by interviewed persons in our content do not necessarily reflect Mavin’s beliefs.

Believing in the strength of the collective

We believe that combining strengths, creativity and innovation are the solution to the challenges of our time. A radical shift in perspective and approach is needed to solve the problems such as climate change, polarization and inequality. Amplifying the voice of people who offer solutions or new points of view to these problems is one of our main goals. We believe that instead of a hyperindidualistic society where it is everyone for themselves, the path to solutions is walked on together. Cooperation over competition. That is why Mavin is open to collaborations. If you are a creative and want to make stories for us, please check out our opportunities.

We’d love to meet you and exchange ideas and viewpoints. To facilitate real life connections, expand our network and exchange stories and inspiration we started Mavin Events. We hope to see you at one of them. Check for upcoming events!

A focus on the positive

Our topics cover structural developments in the world with the intention of looking beyond short-sighted headlines. We believe in constructive and problem solving journalism. Traditional journalism is rooted in the belief to point out problems but not to offer solutions.

To help drive a more positive narrative and a more complete and truthful image about world problems we engage in solutions journalism, meaning to offer, where possible, a proposed solution to the discussed problem. The reality of the world can incur an inclination to pessimism. Whilst we are not denying the sometimes brutal state of this world in our stories, we are always trying to look for a positive message as well.

A focus on negative events, which is traditional in the fast news media, leads to a distorted view of the world and can often lead to incorrect, stereotypical images of people, places and situations.

Transparency about our funding

Mavin Magazine is an initiative of Mavin Collective. We fund this platform through commissioned PR work for companies that deliver a social and/or environmental impact. Mavin Collective is a freelance community of like-minded creatives.

Everything we do; the content we create, the research work we do for this and the events we organise, we do it out of love and faith in our mission. We do this together with people and brands who are also happy to work for the good cause.

In addition, we offer a membership, a donation opportunity and we offer companies the opportunity for a strategic partnership. For events, we approach brands we love for sponsorship. Together we can make a difference.
