Documenting the transition to net-zero with photography.

Mavin’s tip of the day! The World Press Photo exhibition is currently showing around the world. One of the projects that caught our attention is photography project called Net-Zero Transition by documentary photographer Simone Tramonte.

Documentary photographer Simon Tramonte was recently featured in the World Press Photo exhibition. His long-term photography project called Net-Zero Transition documents how the European Union is going to achieve its goals of cutting greenhouse emissions by at least 55 % by 2030, and reduce to net-zero by 2050. The most demanding challenge of humankind is to find solutions for the climate crisis. The photographer documents this arduous task by showing the innovations around Europe that are developed by humans to tackle this task.

The series presents an impressive overview of this collective effort. By highlighting different projects one can get a sense of the massive scale of this undertaking. Though it can induce a feeling of dread by the challenge, it also -perhaps mostly- inspires and gives hope: human resourcefulness and collective action can bring about massive change. We highly recommend to check out his work on this important topic.
